CSWP required a youth-oriented website to tie-in with the Government’s initiative for greater operational integration between organisations delivering support services to young people such as Connexions, Positive about Young People, Youth Service and the Youth Offending Service.
The site would integrate information from a variety of sources, and appeal to young people and parents, carers and partner organisations. It needed to be easily updateable and, in the future, provide a platform for young people to entirely manage certain areas of the site.
Our Solution
With our experience in dealing with young people on a daily basis through direct delivery of workshops and qualifications, our fully-featured Content Management System (CMS) and our portfolio of websites produced, we were uniquely positioned to create this engaging, feature-rich website.
Our CMS provides support for a very flexible site structure to contain a wealth of key information in areas of importance to young people. It allows news and events to be used to keep people informed and keep the site busy, and provided search functionality within the site and search engine optimisation to help the site rank highly within search engines. Editing of all content is subject to the CMS’s built-in permissions model and approval process.
The design of our CMS meant that CSWP could begin the process of writing content for the site and editing this in the CMS, whilst the design of the site was going through a separate parallel process.
From initial concept, and through the development of the site’s design and structure, we solicited feedback from young people to ensure that it appealed to the target audience.
