Our students from the Magic Mirror programme did us proud at a prestigious city-wide event this week.
Coventry City Council held the Work Related Learning (WRL) Celebration event at the Belgrade Theatre. Over 300 young people from WRL projects from across the city came to celebrate their success on the programme.
The night was hosted by DJ John Dalziel, who’s also worked with the young people on lots of our workshops. He said on Twitter later that evening that he’d had a great time and that “It was great to catch up with the
@petlearning crew.” The Kombat Breakers also performed, and prominent people from the Council including Val Wright and Sharon Cassidy spoke.
As part of the Magic Mirror project each of the young people were kitted out in a new outfit for the event, and everybody looked great. Lead Trainer Neil Tooth said,” I was very impressed at how they turned out and how well they behaved”
Bob Pinner said that the Council should be commended for putting on such a lavish event and that it was the perfect way to show how special these young people were to the city.
Each of the young people also received a rose and framed photo of the group. Director Fleur Sexton said, “It’s one of my proudest moments so far running this company. Seeing the positive impact that the trainers have on these young people is very heartening. I’m so chuffed at how hard the young people have worked and how well they presented themselves this evening – it’s fabulous!”
You can read more about our Magic Mirror programme
here. There are very limited spaces available for the programme starting in September, if you have a young person who’s interested then please
contact us.
We’re also hoping to work with other Local Authorities to provide a similar programme to help their looked after young people or those in the PRU to reach their potential, so please
get in touch.
