Coventry’s Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI), the funders of this project, wanted to create a programme to blend personal development training and self-confidence building while at the same time helping people to develop the skills and abilities of a successful entrepreneur. The programme was created by Progressive Educational Tools to support individuals to recognise their strengths and areas for development, providing them with the right level of support to test out their ideas in a safe environment.
Our Solution
With a series of affirmations and bite-sized successes the 4-week programme had input from self-employed people working alongside business development and training professionals able to help with sales, marketing, presentation skills, finance and networking.
16 people took part in Project Inspire from diverse backgrounds and ranging in age from their late teens to mid forties. The course stressed the importance of combining high motivation with practical and realistic targets; taking small, manageable steps to success rather than being overwhelmed by the big picture.
The programme ended with a high profile celebration at the prestigious St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry where the graduates were able to network with some of the City’s key influencers in addition to a number of other start-up businesses likely to become potential clients.
Jenny Wells set up, and is having great success, running a mobile crèche. She said, “As well as finding the course extremely helpful in
showing me how to go about starting a business, Fleur inspired
me to not let things get in my way and encouraged me to believe
I could succeed and I have.”
